Zain Strengthens Investment in Kuwait's Digital Generation

Zain continues its presence as a strategic partner of the Kuwait National Robotics Championship (KNRC) for the fourth consecutive year, in collaboration with Kuwait University, represented by the Department of Computer Science at the College of Science. The new edition continues the championship’s mission to develop national capabilities in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), and to open practical pathways that prepare the younger generation to keep pace with the digital and knowledge-based economy.

The announcement was made during a press conference held at Kuwait University, attended by Dr. Haider Bahbahani, Acting Dean of the College of Science; Bishr Abdullah Al-Salem, Acting General Director of the Public Authority for Youth and Sports; Sara Al-Hubail, Head of Entrepreneurship and Corporate Innovation at Zain Kuwait; Noura Al-Mutairi, representative of the Ministry of Education; and representatives of partners and sponsors.

During the conference, the new season of the championship and its expanded program were unveiled, featuring a range of competitions, training experiments, workshops, and specialized technology activities. Following the success of the past three seasons, the initiative continues to unite the education, youth, and private sectors around a shared ambition: to provide broader opportunities for Kuwait’s next generation to learn by doing, explore emerging technologies, tackle real-world challenges, and transform ideas into practical, applicable solutions.

The championship is jointly organized by Kuwait University, the Public Authority for Youth and Sports, and the Ministry of Education, with strategic partnerships from Zain Kuwait and Al-Sayer Group, and under the patronage of Warba Bank, Kuwait Technical College, Kuwait College of Science and Technology, and the Scientific Center. This model reflects the integrated roles of the educational, youth, and private sectors in serving Kuwait’s future.

Over the past years, the championship has brought the world of technology closer to thousands of students across various educational stages, providing them with opportunities to explore robotics, programming, engineering, and applied innovation through hands-on and interactive experiences. By combining competitions, workshops, training pathways, and practical experiments, the championship has contributed to developing participants’ analytical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and technical skills, encouraging experimentation and innovation while boosting their confidence in their ability to contribute to Kuwait’s digital and knowledge-based economy.

In the 2027 season, Zain expands the ambitions of its partnership beyond the traditional concept of skills development, aiming to contribute to embedding a culture of continuous learning and reskilling. The goal is to make technology a common language that bridges generations, reflecting Zain’s broader approach to evolving the championship from a mere competition into a more comprehensive platform for learning, experimentation, and meaningful interaction with technology. By bringing together youth, teachers, experts, specialists, mentors, and family members, Zain seeks to provide spaces that enable emerging talents to benefit from accumulated expertise, while keeping older generations connected with rapidly evolving technologies, new skills, and modern ways of thinking.

For the first time, Zain participates in the championship with two dedicated teams for its employees’ children under its new program, “Zain Future Makers,” opening a direct pathway for the next generation of the Zain family to learn, build, compete, and represent the company in the national championship. The program will include a junior team for ages 6 to 12 and a youth team for ages 13 to 17, with five participants per team. Selected Future Makers will undergo specialized training with a group of experts under the supervision of Zain ambassadors at the Kuwait National Robotics Championship, aiming to develop their technical and creative abilities, collaboration skills, and problem-solving capabilities throughout the championship stages.

Through “Zain Future Makers,” the company expands its innovation culture beyond its business model to reach the next generation, driven by the belief that the true driver of the future is human beings—innovators, creators, and solution providers who are given the confidence and practical opportunities to experiment, learn from attempts, and work together to turn ideas into reality.

Zain Innovation Award

Zain also launches the “Zain Innovation Award” as part of the 2027 championship. This award is dedicated to university students participating in the Kuwait National Robotics Championship, celebrating projects that demonstrate a distinctive blend of innovation, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving, alongside the ability to connect ideas, technologies, and real-world needs.

This year, the Girls Empowerment Workshop returns as part of the Kuwait National Robotics Championship journey, reaffirming the shared commitment between Zain and Kuwait University to encourage more girls and young women to explore fields such as robotics, programming, and STEM disciplines. Through hands-on and interactive educational experiences, the initiative aims to develop participants’ technical capabilities while enhancing self-confidence, teamwork, creative thinking, and problem-solving skills.

The 2027 edition of the Kuwait National Robotics Championship continues to offer a wide range of applied technical experiences for participants, including robotics and drone challenges, supported by training programs, workshops, and competitive stages that encourage participants to apply their technical knowledge in practical settings and environments. Rather than limiting itself to theoretical learning, the championship places practical experience at the core of its journey, encouraging participants to design, program, test, develop, and collaborate, thereby enhancing their abilities in analytical thinking, engineering modeling, programming, teamwork, and problem-solving. This applied learning model has been a fundamental element of the championship’s approach in previous editions.

Through the 2027 Kuwait National Robotics Championship, Zain continues to invest in human capital and support applied learning pathways that enable national talents to contribute to Kuwait’s digital transformation, knowledge-based economy, and the aspirations of Kuwait Vision.
