The Kuwait Retired Officers Association participated in the 12th Forum and Awards for Best Practices in Elderly Care in Arab Countries for 2026, held in Manama as part of the activities of the 2026 Arab Strategic Forum on the Silver Economy, under the theme “Towards Productive Aging … and a Prosperous Economy.” The Association presented a working paper at the forum, which was held under the patronage of Bahrain’s Minister of Social Development, Osama Al-Alawi. The paper outlined Kuwait’s efforts to support the concept of the silver economy as a “growing economic opportunity to meet the needs of the elderly amid their increasing numbers,” as well as the legal basis for establishing the Kuwait Retired Officers Association and its role in this field. The paper emphasized that the rising number of elderly individuals “necessitates expanding elderly care services, keeping pace with their demographic growth, delivering improved services, and raising community awareness of their rights.” It also stressed the importance of encouraging the private sector and civil society organizations to participate in implementing comprehensive elderly care projects, as well as training specialized personnel and caregivers in these fields.
On the sidelines of its active scientific participation in the forum, Brigadier General Engineer Dr. Hussein Al-Ajmi, Chairman of the Legal Committee at the Kuwait Retired Officers Association and an accredited lawyer and arbitrator, received the Scientific Competence Award in the field of the silver economy. The Association was represented at the forum by: Brigadier General (Retired) Faisal Al-Jazaf, President of the Kuwait Retired Officers Association; Brigadier General (Retired) Bader Al-Ghudayri, Chairman of the Community Security, Research and Studies Committee; and Brigadier General (Retired) Hussein Al-Ajmi, Chairman of the Legal Committee.
The Association’s participation underscores its commitment to community issues related to the elderly, its aim to benefit from Arab experiences and best practices in this field, and its dedication to enhancing the role of retirees and their expertise in serving society and supporting sustainable development.
