Deputy Minister of Interior Discusses Security Cooperation with Italy

Deputy Minister of Interior Major General Abdulwahab Ahmed Al-Wahayeb held talks with Italian Director General of Public Security Governor Pietro Bisagni on ways to enhance security cooperation and exchange expertise between the two sides, during his official visit to the Italian Republic in Rome, in the presence of Kuwait’s Ambassador to the Italian Republic, Nasser Sanhat Al-Qahtani.
During the meeting, Major General Abdulwahab Al-Wahayeb conveyed greetings and appreciation from First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousif, reaffirming his commitment to continuing the development of security cooperation ties between Kuwait and the Italian Republic, and expanding areas of coordination, expertise, and information exchange to serve the mutual interests of both countries.
The meeting addressed ways to strengthen cooperation in several security areas of common interest, foremost among them combating organized crime and illicit drug trafficking, confronting cybercrime and financial and economic crimes, enhancing border security, and exchanging expertise in training and capacity-building, as well as leveraging modern technologies and solutions to support security operations.
The parties also discussed developing mechanisms for information exchange between the competent authorities in both countries, strengthening preventive and proactive capabilities to address emerging criminal patterns, and utilizing modern technologies in monitoring, analysis, and detection processes, thereby contributing to enhancing the efficiency of security operations and addressing security challenges.
Additionally, Al-Wahayeb met with several senior officials at the Italian Ministry of the Interior, discussing various topics of mutual interest and ways to enhance cooperation and exchange expertise between the two sides.
Al-Wahayeb and his accompanying delegation toured several departments under the Italian Ministry of the Interior, where they reviewed their operational nature, coordination mechanisms among competent authorities, and the key systems and technologies employed to support security missions and improve performance efficiency.
