Kuwait: Houthi attack on Medina a dangerous overreach and provocation of Muslim sentiments

Kuwait expressed its strong condemnation and outrage at the Houthi militia’s targeting of an electrical facility serving the Noble Prophet’s Mosque in Medina. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed Kuwait’s unequivocal rejection of these shameful and cowardly repeated hostile attacks against civilian infrastructure, which constitute a blatant violation of the Kingdom’s sovereignty, a flagrant breach of international law and international humanitarian law, a provocation of the feelings of Muslims worldwide, and a serious escalation in the violation of the sanctity of Islamic holy sites. The Ministry renewed Kuwait’s absolute solidarity with Saudi Arabia, standing by its side and supporting all measures taken to safeguard its sovereignty and security, and to protect its citizens and residents on its territory, emphasizing that the security of the Kingdom is an integral part of the security of Kuwait and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states.

For his part, GCC Secretary-General Jassem Al-Bedawi strongly condemned the terrorist drone attack carried out by the terrorist Houthi militia, which targeted an electricity distribution station in Medina that provides services to the Noble Prophet’s Mosque and civilian infrastructure in the city. He affirmed that this reprehensible Houthi attack crossed all red lines, constituted a blatant provocation of the feelings of Muslims worldwide, represented a serious escalation in violating the sanctity of Islamic holy sites, and revealed an aggressive approach that disregards religious and humanitarian values, as well as international laws and norms, particularly given the repeated attempts to target the Two Holy Mosques and their surrounding areas. The Secretary-General stressed the GCC states’ unwavering and firm support for Saudi Arabia, and their full solidarity with it in confronting any threats to its security, stability, and sovereignty, and their backing of all measures taken to protect its territory, citizens, residents, and guests of God. He emphasized that the security of the Kingdom and its holy sites is an integral part of the security of the GCC states, and that any threat to them is a threat to the security of all GCC member states.
