Trump: Destroying Iran means achieving world peace

Washington (Agencies): U.S. President Donald Trump said he might choose to intensify military operations against Iran rather than end the conflict, if a deal that satisfies him cannot be reached, hinting that such a step could be taken after the midterm congressional elections scheduled for November next year. In an interview with Time magazine published yesterday, Trump said, “By breaking Iran, we would achieve peace in the world. But with Iran in existence, I don’t think peace can ever be achieved.” Trump’s remarks come as he acknowledged that military operations against Iran have depleted part of the U.S. stockpile of ammunition, noting that “levels of some types of ammunition are slightly lower compared to others.” The U.S. president clarified that his administration is working to replenish these shortages through agreements with major defense contractors to rebuild stockpiles and increase production rates.
