The Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Kuwait, Ayub Khan Yunusov, affirmed the depth of the historical ties binding the two countries, praising Kuwait’s sustained support for Uzbekistan, particularly through the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, and emphasizing that the coming years hold greater opportunities to enhance bilateral cooperation across various fields. This statement was made by Ambassador Yunusov during a celebration hosted by the Uzbek Embassy in Kuwait to mark the 35th anniversary of his country’s independence, held at the Regency Hotel. The event was attended by Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Chairman of the Public Authority for Investment, Abdulaziz Al-Marzouq; Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs, Nawaf Al-Ahmad; and the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Kuwait, Prince Sultan bin Saad, along with several ambassadors, diplomatic corps members, officials, and public figures.

Ambassador Yunusov welcomed the attendees, expressing his sincere gratitude and appreciation for their participation in this national occasion, and extended special thanks to Minister Abdulaziz Al-Marzouq for attending the celebration, describing his presence as a reflection of the enduring affection, respect, and friendship between the two countries and peoples. He stated that August 31, 1991, marked a historic milestone for the Uzbek people, who realized their dream of reclaiming their right to build an independent state and shape their future through their own will. He noted that independence has become the foundation for Uzbekistan’s modern renaissance, the consolidation of its national identity, and the strengthening of state institutions.

He further explained that Uzbekistan has recently entered a new phase characterized by extensive reforms and growing openness, which have contributed to enhancing good-neighborly relations, improving the investment climate, and expanding trade, industry, energy, education, tourism, and innovation sectors, all within the framework of building a “New Uzbekistan” and placing human capital, knowledge, and enterprise at the core of sustainable development. He pointed out that the next phase will focus on a advanced economy, modern technologies, and human capital, while remaining committed to the values of peace, tolerance, and friendship among peoples.
