Al-Rifai Meets Officials to Discuss Enhancing Financial, Economic, and Developmental Cooperation

Finance Minister Dr. Yaqoub Al-Rafai met with Zu Jiabei, President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), during which the two sides exchanged views on matters of mutual interest and explored opportunities to further strengthen cooperation between the AIIB and the State of Kuwait. They discussed prospects for future collaboration in building and developing national capacities and enhancing Kuwaiti expertise, as well as the potential to leverage the Bank’s experience and programs in knowledge and expertise transfer to achieve the priorities of both parties.
Minister Al-Rafai also met with Ali bin Ahmed Al-Kuwari, during which they exchanged views on a number of topics and fiscal policies, particularly in light of recent economic developments.
Additionally, Minister Al-Rafai met with Zhang Junhong, Governor of the People’s Republic of China at the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. The meeting focused on ways to enhance financial and economic cooperation between Kuwait and the People’s Republic of China, and on exchanging views regarding areas of mutual interest. They also discussed cooperation opportunities within the framework of the strategic and close relations between the two friendly countries, including cooperation within the context of multilateral development banks.
In the context of bilateral meetings, Dr. Al-Rafai met with Abdullah Suleiman Al-Sheikh Sidiya, Minister of Economic and Development Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania. They reaffirmed the deep and distinguished bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and discussed a number of issues of mutual interest, particularly investment and development matters, as well as action plans for the coming phase in line with the shared interests of both parties.
The Finance Minister also met with Hassan Zureer, Minister of Finance and Public Enterprises of the Republic of Maldives. The meeting addressed the development-oriented relations between the two countries and ways to enhance cooperation and support in priority areas for the coming phase, alongside coordinating positions in international financial institutions and exploring avenues for mutual support between the two friendly nations.
