Infantino Ready to Increase Funding

FIFA President Gianni Infantino, a Swiss-Italian, has opened the door to significant increases in funding allocated to the organization’s 211 member associations, as the FIFA Council is scheduled to consider additional payments during its meeting on October 15. In a letter sent yesterday to the presidents of FIFA’s six continental confederations, Infantino stated that he would support “the maximum possible additional funding that can be provided responsibly,” but cautioned that any figure currently under discussion does not represent an approved commitment.
