Bahrain Crown Prince: 'BAPCO is a Solid National Pillar'
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain, expressed his pride in the sincere efforts made by His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Affairs and Youth and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Babcock & Wilcox Energy (Babcock Energy), as well as all employees of the group. He commended their demonstrated competence, capability, and sense of national responsibility in maintaining operational continuity and the efficiency of the energy system and its supplies, thereby enhancing the security of the energy sector and its role as a vital pillar of the national economy, particularly during the period of responding to the despicable Iranian attacks on the Kingdom of Bahrain.
His Highness also praised the development paths being pursued by Babcock Energy and its subsidiaries, and their implementation of various strategic projects that contribute to supporting the development trajectory of the energy sector, enhancing the company’s efficiency and competitiveness, with positive repercussions for the national economy and supporting its contributions to the comprehensive developmental journey under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of the Kingdom.
This statement came during His Highness’s visit yesterday to the Babcock Refining Company refinery, where he was received upon arrival by His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Affairs and Youth and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Babcock Energy. Accompanying His Highness during the visit were Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister; His Highness Sheikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Minister of the Prime Minister’s Diwan; Sheikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy; and a number of senior officials. His Highness conveyed greetings and appreciation from His Majesty the King to all employees of Babcock Energy.
He affirmed that the progress achieved by the Kingdom of Bahrain in the energy sector over the past decades has been based on an ambitious vision that recognized the importance of this sector and its pivotal role in supporting economic development paths, alongside national cadres who contributed their dedication, competence, and accumulated expertise to its development, enhancing its capabilities and boosting its contributions to the national economy.
During the visit, His Highness met with the Board of Directors and executive management of Babcock Energy, expressing his pride in the national talents working at Babcock Energy and its subsidiaries, and his appreciation for their pivotal role in continuing to develop the energy system, enhancing its operational efficiency and sustainability. He emphasized that investing in national cadres and developing their skills and expertise would remain fundamental to achieving the desired aspirations in this vital sector.
His Highness stated, “Today, we stand before a national landmark in the energy sector. Babcock was established in 1929, and refining operations began there in 1936, making it a prominent milestone in the journey of the oil and refining sector in the region throughout its history. Today, it continues its path of development and modernization through the efforts of the national cadres working within it.” He stressed the importance of continuing to build on what has been achieved in this vital sector and advancing development paths to enhance the efficiency, sustainability, and competitiveness of the energy sector.
During his visit to the Babcock Refining Company refinery, His Highness reviewed the refinery’s operations and its modernization program, as well as key projects, initiatives, and development programs, and the efforts undertaken to enhance the security of oil facilities and raise their readiness levels amid various challenges, contributing to ensuring operational continuity and the sustainability of energy supplies. His Highness also met with several national cadres working in the sector, praising the exemplary national model they represent in performing their duties with responsibility and competence under all circumstances.
He emphasized the importance of continuing to implement strategic projects that contribute to developing the energy sector and enhancing its capabilities, expanding the use of modern technologies and innovative solutions to improve operational efficiency, alongside continuously exploring promising investment opportunities that enhance sector growth and competitiveness. These efforts support the Kingdom of Bahrain’s position in the regional energy sector and contribute to creating more specialized opportunities for national talents.
In a statement on this occasion, His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa expressed his deep appreciation and gratitude to His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister for his historic visit yesterday to the Babcock Refining Company and his inspection of the refinery, which reflects His Highness’s keen interest and direct attention to monitoring operations at the refinery and the Bahraini cadres managing and operating it.
