Abdul-Aati: Egypt's Joining of 'Mecca Agreement' Under Study

Cairo (Agencies): Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty announced that Cairo’s accession to the “Mecca Agreement” for collective defense with Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan is under study and discussion within relevant Egyptian institutions, while close partnership with the three countries continues. In statements to Qatar’s Al Jazeera channel, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s steadfast support for Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states, rejecting any legal or moral justification for Iranian aggression or attacks on navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, and stressed that Gulf security is an integral part of Egypt’s and the Arab world’s national security.
