Al-Busaidi: Oman Committed to Its Approach of Finding Peaceful Solutions to Disputes

New York – (KUNA): Oman’s Foreign Minister, Badr Al Busaidi, reaffirmed his country’s steadfast commitment to continuing its efforts to safeguard navigation in the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with the principles of international law and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. This was stated in a speech delivered by Al Busaidi during the high-level general debate of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, in which he called on all parties to cooperate with Oman in its efforts to ensure the respect for and protection of the rights of all beneficiaries of the transit routes in the Strait of Hormuz.

He reaffirmed Oman’s continued adherence to its consistent approach of seeking peaceful and consensual solutions to disputes based on values and principles that contribute to achieving security and stability for all, and to advancing economic development projects and shared prosperity for peoples. Al Busaidi renewed Oman’s solidarity with all neighboring countries, including the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council, regarding the legitimate measures they take to safeguard their security, protect their sovereignty, and preserve their territorial integrity. He called on all concerned parties to resolve outstanding disputes through restraint and foresight, and to engage in dialogue leading to consensual political solutions and sustainable understandings that serve the interests of all.

On the Yemeni issue, Al Busaidi renewed his country’s support for finding a political solution to the crisis that preserves Yemen’s unity and stability and meets the aspirations of the Yemeni people. He expressed his country’s rejection of continuous Israeli aggression against Arab states, condemning the crimes and violations committed by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people and their suffering in their struggle to secure their legitimate rights and liberate their lands.
