Launch of Debate League at University City

Kuwait University launched the 12th edition of the Debate League for the 2026/2027 academic year, with 18 teams representing the university’s various colleges participating in the competition at the College of Life Sciences in the Sabah Al-Salem University City, under the patronage of University President Dr. Dina Al-Milhim.

Speaking on behalf of the university president, Acting Dean of Student Affairs Dr. Salem Al-Shamari emphasized that the tournament’s continuation for its 12th year underscores its significance among student activities and its role in developing students’ skills in dialogue, critical thinking, and analysis. He noted that the competition provides a university platform for dialogue and the exchange of ideas, enabling students to discuss various issues in a scientific and objective manner grounded in evidence, knowledge, and respect for differing opinions. This, in turn, enhances their ability to construct, analyze, present, and defend arguments, as well as to accept diverse viewpoints.

Dr. Al-Shamari reaffirmed Kuwait University’s commitment to supporting high-quality student activities and providing an inspiring academic environment that contributes to shaping students’ personalities and developing their skills, in alignment with the university’s strategic vision aimed at enhancing the quality of the university experience and preparing national cadres capable of critical thinking and active participation in society.
