As part of the Ministry’s preparations to face the upcoming rainy season, including completing major road maintenance works in various areas, the Kuwait Public Works Ministry has secured a second extension from the Court of Accounts for its tunnel maintenance contract, valued at 392,000 Kuwaiti dinars. The maintenance works encompass cleaning stormwater drains and manholes, as well as inspecting the maintenance status of pumping stations in highway tunnels to ensure their safe operation.
The Ministry has begun its preparations for the rainy season through cleaning operations carried out by emergency teams, aiming to prevent water accumulation that could impede vehicle traffic at certain locations. Meanwhile, the relevant technical sectors have started monitoring these efforts to ensure full readiness at sites under their supervision.
The Ministry has developed a well-considered action plan to ensure all work teams are ready for rapid response, according to pre-established plans for the concerned teams. This is complemented by round-the-clock monitoring to guarantee the readiness of its emergency teams and the completion of equipment and machinery preparations, such as water pumps and other necessary supplies.
Maintenance and preparation activities for the rainy season include cleaning stormwater drains in various areas and maintaining pumping stations in tunnels on highways to ensure their safe operation. Additionally, mobile pumps will be deployed in tunnels and critical traffic intersections, alongside coordinated efforts with other relevant government entities, such as the Civil Defense and Fire Services, to enhance readiness and respond to any emergencies.
