Zelensky: Trump decided to allow Ukraine to manufacture 'Patriot'

KYIV – Agencies: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed that U.S. President Donald Trump will allow Ukraine to manufacture “Patriot” missiles, a key demand as Kyiv seeks to counter Russia’s ongoing aerial attacks. Zelensky told reporters, “There are already concrete agreements in place. During our last meeting, President Trump confirmed, ‘Yes, I have made the final decision. Ukraine will receive a license to manufacture Patriot missiles.’” The two leaders met on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York this week, where Zelensky described his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, as “Patient Zero,” noting that the more freedom Putin has to act, “the more dangerous the world becomes for everyone.” Trump had previously hinted—on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Turkey last July—that Ukraine would be granted the right to manufacture “Patriot” missiles, but he walked back the offer weeks later.
