Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa Visits ALBA: Kingdom of Bahrain Achieves Progress in the Industrial Sector
His Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Deputy King and Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Bahrain, expressed his appreciation for the efforts of national cadres working at Bahrain Aluminium Company (Alba), commending their commitment to maintaining Alba’s production continuity. This, he noted, safeguards the company’s position within the international industrial landscape and its contribution to global aluminium production during the period of confronting Iran’s baseless aggression against the Kingdom of Bahrain.
His Highness stated, “Today, we stand before a national industrial project whose operations began in 1971 through the efforts of national manpower. Its production activities have continued uninterrupted for 55 years, transforming it into one of the most prominent vital projects today as the world’s largest single-site aluminium smelter. It continues its expansion and development trajectory through the sincere efforts and continuous dedication of the national workforce, remaining a distinguished global brand in the aluminium industry and contributing to advancing the comprehensive developmental agenda under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of the Kingdom.”
This statement was made during His Highness’s visit yesterday to Bahrain Aluminium Company (Alba), accompanied by a number of senior officials. During the visit, His Highness conveyed greetings and appreciation from His Majesty the King to the company’s employees.
His Highness emphasized that the progress achieved by the Kingdom of Bahrain in the industrial sector over the past decades has been built on an ambitious vision that believes in the role of industry in supporting economic development pathways. This progress has been driven by national cadres, fueled by passion and ambition since the inception of work in this sector, whose dedication and expertise have elevated the industry to the global standards we witness today.
He noted that the national cadres currently working in industrial institutions are an extension of those pioneering competencies that laid the foundation for this journey of achievement. They possess the same determination and resolve to continue working and achieving excellence under all circumstances and challenges.
His Highness expressed his pride in the company’s employees and appreciation for their role in continuing to develop Alba’s production, enhancing product quality, and strengthening its global competitiveness. He commended the company for achieving a significant milestone through its national workforce: recording 50 million safe work hours.
His Royal Highness the Deputy King and Crown Prince also reviewed the progress of production lines and the development projects underway at the company. He met with the Chairman and Board of Directors of Bahrain Aluminium Company (Alba), as well as a number of national employees, praising them for providing an exemplary national model in fulfilling their national duties under various circumstances.
His Highness welcomed Alba’s acquisition of Aluminium Dunkirk, the largest aluminium smelter in the European Union. He noted that this move supports ambitious aspirations to build a global platform for low-carbon aluminium, which will enhance Alba’s presence in global markets and bolster its capacity to achieve sustainable growth. Dunkirk holds a distinguished position thanks to its advanced automation levels, integrated production capabilities, and a strong base of skilled expertise, positioning it to capitalize on the growing European demand for sustainably produced aluminium.
For his part, Khaled Amr Al-Rumaihi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bahrain Aluminium Company (Alba), conveyed his highest expressions of gratitude and appreciation to His Majesty the King for his esteemed recognition of the company’s employees. He also expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Royal Highness the Deputy King and Crown Prince for visiting the company and reviewing its programs and plans. Al-Rumaihi highly valued His Highness’s commendation of the efforts of the national workforce and his pride in their role in continuing to develop Alba’s production. He affirmed that this recognition serves as a major motivation for all employees to continue advancing development and modernization efforts to achieve the company’s desired objectives.
