Al-Jaber: Kuwait is moving forward with the development of its education system
Foreign Minister Sheikh Jeraah Al-Jaber participated in the high-level event titled “Doubling the Potential: A New Era for Education Financing,” organized by the governments of the Italian Republic and the Federal Republic of Nigeria, in cooperation with the Global Partnership for Education. The event was held at United Nations Headquarters in New York on the sidelines of the High-Level Week of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The Foreign Minister delivered a speech during the event, reaffirming Kuwait’s belief that education is a fundamental pillar for achieving sustainable development, investing in human capital, and building communities capable of meeting future challenges. He highlighted Kuwait’s commitment to continuously developing its education system, enhancing the quality of education, leveraging digital transformation and modern technologies, and nurturing youth skills to meet the demands of the future and the labor market.
He reiterated Kuwait’s commitment to supporting efforts aimed at expanding access to education, particularly in developing countries and the most vulnerable communities, based on the conviction that investing in education is an investment in development, stability, and shared prosperity.
In this context, the Foreign Minister noted that Kuwait, through its national and development institutions—most notably the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development—continues to support projects and programs in friendly and sister countries, including those related to education and human capacity development, in addition to supporting educational programs implemented by international organizations.
He also emphasized the importance of protecting education during times of crisis and ensuring sustainable and adequate financing to guarantee the continuity of the educational process and safeguard the right of children and youth to build a better future.
In closing his remarks, he reaffirmed Kuwait’s support for international efforts to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 4, underscoring the importance of strengthening international partnerships, mobilizing resources, and exchanging expertise to build more inclusive, higher-quality, and resilient education systems, ensuring that no one is left behind.
Foreign Minister Sheikh Jeraah Al-Jaber also participated in a high-level event titled “A Call to Action for Children in the West Bank and Gaza Strip,” which addressed ways to enhance the protection of Palestinian children and meet their basic needs. The event was held at United Nations Headquarters in New York, jointly organized by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Kingdom of Belgium, and the European Union, on the sidelines of the High-Level Week of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The event discussed the humanitarian situation facing children in the West Bank and Gaza Strip and ways to strengthen their protection, alongside supporting efforts to provide them with essential care and services.
In another development, Foreign Minister Sheikh Jeraah Al-Jaber held talks with his Singaporean counterpart, Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan, on ways to enhance and develop bilateral relations between the two countries across various fields. The meeting took place at the Permanent Mission of Kuwait to the United Nations in New York, on the sidelines of the High-Level Week of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly. The two sides also discussed the latest regional and international developments.
The Foreign Minister also met with his Kyrgyz counterpart, Jenbek Kuluibayev, to discuss ways to enhance and develop bilateral relations between the two countries across various fields. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the High-Level Week of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The two sides also discussed the latest regional and international developments.
In the same context, Foreign Minister Sheikh Jeraah Al-Jaber met with Donald Blum, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, to discuss ways to enhance bilateral relations and strategic cooperation between Kuwait and the United States and develop them across various fields. The meeting took place at the Permanent Mission of Kuwait to the United Nations in New York, on the sidelines of the High-Level Week of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly. The two sides also discussed the latest regional and international developments.
Al-Jaber also met with Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Residing Abroad of the Kingdom of Morocco, on the sidelines of the High-Level Week of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
According to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to enhance and develop them across various fields, as well as discussing the latest regional and international developments.
The Foreign Minister also met with David Adian, President of the Republic of Nauru, at the Permanent Mission of Kuwait to the United Nations in New York, on the sidelines of the High-Level Week of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
