Algerian coach Nour Eddine Ould Ali, head coach of the Yemen national team, stated that his squad aims to deliver improved performances in the tournament, emphasizing that building a competitive national team requires a comprehensive project, despite the challenges facing Yemeni football. Speaking at a press conference ahead of the match against the United Arab Emirates, Ould Ali described the Gulf Cup as a special tournament for the region’s nations, noting that the team values its progress in recent years and looks forward to continuing its development. He added, “We aspire to give our best, and why not win the Gulf Cup one day?”
He pointed out that the team held a training camp in Aden during the initial preparation phase before moving to Jeddah for an extended stay to acclimatize to the conditions and prepare early for the tournament. Ould Ali noted that the squad includes both expatriate and local talents, stressing that selection is based solely on on-field performance. “We face difficulties, but they are no excuse; we strive to do our best,” he said.
Refusing to make promises to Yemeni fans, Ould Ali stated, “We do not want to deceive the public with empty promises; we only promise to give our best in everything.” He also noted that Yemeni supporters are expected to attend in large numbers in Jeddah.
