Al-Mushaan: Committed to creating environmentally friendly and accessible transportation systems
Minister of Public Works Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan participated in the Ministers’ Forum held on the sidelines of the 2026 Global Forum on Sustainable Transport in the Chinese capital, Beijing, under the theme “Implementing the Global Development Initiative and the Global Governance Initiative to Deepen Cooperation in Sustainable Transport.” Al-Mashaan expressed Kuwait’s welcome and support for the framework of the Global Sustainable Transport Development Initiative, commending its focus on infrastructure connectivity, resilient supply chains, sustainable investment, technological innovation, and capacity building. She reaffirmed Kuwait’s commitment to working with its regional and international partners toward interconnected, resilient, environmentally friendly, and inclusive transport systems, noting that international forums represent an important opportunity to exchange successful experiences and translate shared objectives into practical cooperation.
In a related development, Al-Mashaan conducted a field visit to a worker city implemented by a Chinese state-owned enterprise, during her visit to the People’s Republic of China to participate in the 2026 Global Forum on Sustainable Transport. During the visit, she reviewed the facilities of the worker city, its implementation model, and the Chinese company nominated by the Chinese government to construct worker cities in Kuwait, in accordance with a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the two countries on this matter. She added that this MoU is one of seven memoranda of understanding signed by His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, with the government of the People’s Republic of China in 2023.
The Minister of Public Works participated in the proceedings of the 2026 Global Forum on Sustainable Transport, organized by the Chinese Ministry of Transport in Beijing under the slogan “Sustainable Transport: Easier Mobility for People, Smoother Flow of Goods.” The forum was attended by Chinese Minister of Transport Liu Wei, ministers and heads of delegations from various countries around the world, and representatives of international organizations, with the aim of enhancing international cooperation in sustainable transport and facilitating the exchange of expertise among nations.
