The Cabinet approved a draft decree-law concerning housing finance for beneficiaries of residential care, in line with the state’s commitment and full responsibility to address family issues and needs, with housing care being paramount. This came during the Cabinet meeting held yesterday, chaired by His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. The Cabinet stated that the draft decree-law aims to fulfill the state’s capacity to sustainably provide decent housing for Kuwaiti citizens. It noted that Law No. 118 of 2023 concerning the establishment of companies for creating or developing residential cities or areas and their economic development, as amended by Decree-Law No. 89 of 2025, constitutes one of the pillars in addressing the housing problem. In the government’s desire to strengthen this law and achieve its objectives, the need arose for a new law to serve as one of the alternatives contributing to resolving the housing issue from an economic perspective that ensures the required sustainability. The Cabinet forwarded the draft decree-law to His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
