Al-Salhiyah Participates in the 'Arab Basket' Tournament

Al-Salmiya Club will participate in the Arab Basketball Championship, to be held in the Lebanese capital Beirut, hosted by Al-Hakam Club, from October 9 to 20 next month. The tournament was initially scheduled to feature Kuwaiti clubs Al-Kuwait, Al-Qadsia, and Kazma, but Al-Qadsia withdrew, prompting the federation to invite Al-Salmiya, which accepted. Kazma also withdrew due to the team’s lack of readiness, despite having given its preliminary approval earlier.

The Arab Basketball Federation had initially announced the participation of 12 teams: Al-Kuwait and Kazma from Kuwait; Al-Hakam, Beirut, Hob’s, and Al-Markazi from Lebanon; Shabab Hadhramout from Yemen; Al-Arabi and Al-Rayyan from Qatar; Al-Ahli Aleppo from Syria; and Al-Seeb from Oman. However, Al-Qadsia (the “Orange” team) withdrew, allowing Al-Salmiya to take its place.

Al-Salmiya began its training early last July in preparation for the new season, intensifying its preparations recently to reach peak performance ahead of the championship.

On his part, club secretary Nasser Mansi said, “Al-Salmiya’s basketball team is pleased to take part in this Arab gathering, which brings together a select group of the region’s top teams, offering the squad an opportunity to gain experience through international competition.” He emphasized that the club’s objective is not merely to acquire experience, but to compete for the highest possible positions.

Mansi added, “The team features a group of outstanding young players capable of delivering strong performances, bolstered by three distinguished foreign professionals, underscoring Al-Salmiya’s determination to compete seriously in the tournament.”
