Saudi media stands out as one of the sectors directly engaging with the comprehensive renaissance the Kingdom is experiencing. In recent years, it has undergone a rapid transition from the traditional media model to a multi-platform ecosystem encompassing news websites, social media platforms, short and long-form video, podcasts, infographics, interactive content, and artificial intelligence tools for data collection, editing, production, and distribution. Outputs from the Saudi Media Forum 2026 reveal that AI has become an integral part of discussions on the future of the media industry in the Kingdom. The forum witnessed the launch of the “Saudi Media Innovation Camp” in collaboration between the Ministry of Media and the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), alongside the “Principles of AI in Media” document, which addresses the use of technology in the media workflow and establishes principles related to transparency, information integrity, human accountability, privacy, fairness, technical security, and intellectual property rights. This step is particularly significant as it reflects a shift in discourse from merely using AI tools to attempting to build a professional framework governing their use. Digital media requires not only rapid content production but also more sophisticated mechanisms, especially with the proliferation of synthetic content and deepfakes. Accordingly, the Saudi Media Forum discussed issues of truth and trust in the age of algorithms, as well as the application of AI in data analysis, content production, and audience understanding.
