Crown Prince: The precision of the current stage requires the concerted efforts of the international community to de-escalate tensions at all levels
The Representative of His Highness Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled, met with Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen at his residence in New York on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly. At the outset of the meeting, His Highness the Crown Prince conveyed the greetings of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad to the President of Austria, along with best wishes for his good health and well-being, and for the Republic of Austria and its people, wishing them continued progress and prosperity. The meeting discussed bilateral relations between the State of Kuwait and the Republic of Austria and ways to develop them in the interests of both countries and peoples, as well as the latest developments on the regional and international scenes.
Attending the meeting were Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Jara Al-Jaber, Director General of the Direct Investment Promotion Authority Sheikh Dr. Meshal Jaber Al-Ahmad, Ambassador Mansour Ayad Al-Otaibi, Kuwait’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Tariq Al-Banna, and Director of the Crown Prince’s Office Major General Ahmed Al-Duaiji.
His Highness the Crown Prince also received Estonian President Alar Karis and his accompanying delegation, representing His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad, at the Kuwait Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly. At the start of the meeting, His Highness conveyed the greetings of His Highness the Amir to the President of Estonia, wishing him good health and further development and prosperity for the Republic of Estonia and its people. The meeting discussed bilateral relations between Kuwait and the Republic of Estonia and ways to enhance them in the interests of both countries and peoples, alongside discussions on key regional and international developments.
Additionally, His Highness the Crown Prince met with Dr. Philo Yang, President of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, at the United Nations headquarters in New York on the sidelines of the high-level week. At the outset, His Highness conveyed the greetings of His Highness the Amir. His Highness congratulated Dr. Yang on assuming the presidency of the current session of the General Assembly, affirming Kuwait’s full support for the presidency’s efforts to strengthen cooperation among member states and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. The meeting also addressed several agenda items of the 81st session, as well as prominent international issues.
His Highness the Crown Prince further met with UN Secretary-General António Guterres at the organization’s headquarters in New York on the sidelines of the high-level week. His Highness conveyed the greetings of His Highness the Amir to the Secretary-General. During the meeting, His Highness emphasized Kuwait’s commitment to active participation in the 81st session of the General Assembly, highlighting the sensitivity of the current stage and the need for concerted international efforts to de-escalate tensions at all levels. He stressed the importance of activating the role of the United Nations and enhancing its mechanisms to address successive crises, thereby contributing to the foundations of regional and international security and stability, and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
For his part, UN Secretary-General António Guterres praised Kuwait’s historic and pioneering role in supporting the international organization, commending its diligent diplomatic efforts to promote dialogue, settle disputes through peaceful means, and its continuous support for humanitarian initiatives aimed at alleviating the suffering of affected populations. He also acknowledged Kuwait’s backing of the UN’s noble activities in maintaining international peace and security. The meeting reviewed the latest developments and situations on the regional and international fronts, particularly efforts to end tensions in the region, and exchanged views on ways to enhance cooperation to address growing global challenges.
His Highness the Crown Prince, accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Jara Al-Jaber, also met with the heads of technical offices and members of the Kuwait Permanent Delegation to the United Nations at the Permanent Mission in New York. His Highness conveyed the greetings and appreciation of His Highness the Amir to the heads of technical offices and delegation members, commending their sincere efforts in representing Kuwait and defending its supreme interests.
Furthermore, His Highness the Crown Prince, in the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Jara Al-Jaber, met with members of Kuwait’s supporting delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs participating in the 81st session of the UN General Assembly at the Kuwait Permanent Mission in New York. His Highness conveyed the greetings of His Highness the Amir to the supporting delegation members. He also provided them with his directives to highlight Kuwait’s pioneering and distinguished role in international forums and to showcase its civilized image, urging them to exert their best efforts in fulfilling their duties to elevate the name of their beloved homeland and to leverage accumulated experience to serve as effective ambassadors for the country abroad. His Highness wished them success and achievement.
