Bayern scores seven against Union

Champions Bayern Munich crushed visitors Union Berlin 7-0 on the day before yesterday at the Allianz Arena, in the opening match of the fourth round of the German Bundesliga. The Frenchman Michael Olise starred with a hat-trick, while England’s Harry Kane added a new double to his record tally.

Bayern moved to 10 points in first place on a temporary basis, tightening the pressure on Freiburg and Borussia Dortmund, the only two teams in the league to have won their first three matches.

The seven goals for the team managed by Belgian Vincent Kompany were scored by Jamal Musiala (18), Kane (39 from a penalty and 54), Olise (43, 73, and 76), and Morocco’s Ismaïla Sarr (70).

By scoring his first hat-trick for Bayern Munich, a club he joined in the summer of 2024, while also assisting a goal and winning a penalty, Olise confirmed his exceptional start to the season. He has now reached eight goals and three assists in seven matches across all competitions.

Following the long international break at the end of September and the beginning of October, Bayern will travel to face their neighbors Augsburg, before heading to Norway to take on Viking in Stavanger.
