As part of its ongoing support for the “Let’s Be Aware” banking awareness campaign launched by the Central Bank of Kuwait and the Kuwait Banks Association in collaboration with local banks, Kuwait International Bank (KIB) participated in an informational session for new students at the American University of Iraq, Baghdad (AIU), coinciding with the start of the new academic year. This participation reflects KIB’s commitment to supporting youth and enhancing their banking culture and awareness, particularly regarding the safe use of banking services and protection against fraud.
The event saw the participation of a KIB team, which engaged in direct communication with students, answered their inquiries, and provided advice and guidance on best practices for protecting their accounts and banking data from fraud attempts. The team also introduced students to the key risks associated with using banking and digital services, as well as safe ways to manage them. The bank’s team emphasized the importance of keeping banking information confidential, not sharing PINs, passwords, or one-time passwords (OTP) with anyone, and exercising caution when dealing with suspicious links, messages, and calls.
Commenting on the participation, Mariam Al-Nasser, Director of Branches and Premium Banking Services at KIB’s Retail Banking Division, said: “University events represent an important opportunity to connect with students at a new stage in their lives and introduce them to fundamental practices they should follow when managing their accounts and using banking and digital services. Through these sessions, we strive to highlight the main methods fraudsters may use, how to identify fraud attempts and avoid falling victim to them, while also stressing the importance of being cautious with any requests for banking information or personal data. We always aim to deliver these guidelines in a practical and easy-to-understand manner, helping students develop sound banking habits from the beginning of their banking experience.”
KIB’s participation in the session stems from its continuous commitment to promoting financial and banking culture among various segments of society, especially youth, and contributing to reinforcing responsible and safe practices in the use of banking and digital services. Through its involvement in the informational session, KIB sought to establish direct communication channels with students and present banking information in a simplified manner, thereby raising their financial awareness and empowering them to make safer decisions from the start of their university journey.
It is worth noting that KIB continues to support educational and community initiatives aimed at building a generation more aware of financial and banking issues, enabling them to protect their data and accounts, and interact safely with modern banking services.
