"Teqball" made its presence felt at the Asian Games

Kuwaiti badminton player Zaid Al-Aidan has advanced to the semifinals of the 20th Asian Games, Aichi-Nagoya 2026. Al-Aidan delivered a standout performance in the men’s singles badminton event, showcasing strong play during both the group stage and the quarterfinals. In Group A of the qualifying round, he played four matches, securing three wins out of four to clinch a spot in the knockout stage. He defeated players from Myanmar, Mongolia, and Kyrgyzstan with identical scores of 2-0, while suffering a 0-2 loss to his Iraqi opponent. He then overcame his Japanese rival in a decisive 2-0 quarterfinal victory, ensuring his continued pursuit of a medal and affirming his technical and physical readiness for tomorrow’s semifinal.

Meanwhile, the men’s doubles pair of Basel Ahmad and Abdulwahab Al-Qattan also advanced to the semifinals. Their progression came after an impressive performance in which they confidently navigated the qualifying rounds, demonstrating their high level of readiness and strong contention for a place on the podium. Basel and Abdulwahab will face the Lebanese team in tomorrow’s semifinal.

Additionally, the mixed doubles pair of Salman Al-Ibrahim and Hessa Al-Filkaawi will begin their Asian Games campaign in the mixed doubles event at 7:00 a.m.
