Deputy Minister of Education Dr. Khaled Al-Rashid affirmed the ministry’s commitment to instilling environmental culture among students and promoting positive behaviors related to environmental conservation and sustainability. In a press statement following the opening of registration for the fourth annual “Your School’s Amena” exhibition at The Avenues Mall, Al-Rashid highlighted the importance of partnering with the Public Authority for Applied Education and Research to support awareness initiatives aimed at building a generation conscious of its environmental responsibilities. He noted that the participation of 156 schools across all educational stages, from kindergarten to secondary school, in last year’s exhibition underscored the significance of involving students in practical initiatives that foster a sense of social responsibility and encourage recycling practices and the reduction of plastic waste.
For her part, Sanaa Al-Ghamlas, CEO of “Amena,” commended the role of government entities, represented by the Ministries of Interior, Education, Youth and Sports, and Development and Sustainability, as well as the Public Authority for Applied Education and Research, in supporting environmental initiatives and strengthening institutional partnerships aimed at raising environmental awareness among students. She noted that school registration for the competition began on September 13 and will continue until September 26. Al-Ghamlas emphasized the exhibition’s role in raising environmental awareness among students and promoting a culture of plastic collection and recycling, pointing out that the initiative offers an opportunity to translate environmental concepts into practical actions involving students and educational and administrative staff across all school levels.
The “Your School’s Amena” plastic collection competition, organized annually in collaboration with schools under the Ministry of Education, continues its awareness mission among students across various educational stages by encouraging their participation in plastic collection and promoting a culture of recycling, thereby supporting national efforts in environmental sustainability and reinforcing social responsibility among the youth.
