The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Kuwait’s strong condemnation and rejection of an attempt to target Mecca with a drone launched by the Houthi militia, affirming that this cowardly and despicable act constitutes a violation of the sanctity of the Muslim qibla, a disregard for its religious significance, and an affront to the feelings of Muslims. In a statement, the Ministry reaffirmed Kuwait’s absolute solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures undertaken to safeguard its sovereignty and security, protect the Two Holy Mosques, and preserve their sanctity. It commended the vigilance and competence of the Saudi Royal Air Defense Forces in thwarting this attempt, emphasizing that the security of Saudi Arabia is an integral part of Kuwait’s security and the security of the Gulf Cooperation Council states.

The Ministry also condemned the incursion of extremist settlers into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound under the protection of Israeli occupation forces, stressing that the recurrence of such practices violates the sanctity of holy sites and escalates tensions in the region. In its statement, the Ministry reiterated Kuwait’s rejection of any attempts to alter the legal and historical status quo in Jerusalem and its holy sites, underscoring the necessity for the international community to play its role in halting these transgressions and preserving the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque as a place of worship exclusively for Muslims.

Kuwait also reaffirmed its steadfast and supportive position regarding the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the fraternal Palestinian people, foremost among which is the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
