Al-Houila: Comprehensive National Strategy for Protection Against Domestic Violence
Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs, Dr. Umthil Al-Hawaili, chaired the third meeting of the National Committee for Protection from Domestic Violence, during which the committee discussed executive steps and initiatives aimed at enhancing family security and community stability, and developing a comprehensive system for preventing domestic violence and addressing its impacts.
Al-Hawaili emphasized the importance of strengthening coordination and joint efforts among relevant government entities and civil society organizations, noting that the meeting reviewed initiatives and perspectives submitted by committee members and discussed mechanisms to activate them in support of family protection efforts.
In a press statement, Al-Hawaili said that discussions focused on advancing the formulation of a comprehensive and integrated national strategy for protection from domestic violence, ensuring the development of an advanced and sustainable preventive and therapeutic system that responds to family needs and enhances their security and stability.
She added that preparing this strategy translates the directives of the Supreme Leadership to mobilize efforts and resources to protect the family unit, and to implement the provisions contained in the relevant decrees and legislation concerning protection from domestic violence.
Al-Hawaili clarified that the integration of roles among various concerned entities and the discussion of their initiatives constitute a fundamental pillar for developing mechanisms to monitor reports, provide immediate and effective protection to victims, and offer the necessary psychological and social support to family members.
She stressed the importance of intensifying community awareness efforts regarding the system of rights and responsibilities guaranteed by the state’s laws and legislation, which contributes to raising awareness of the dangers of domestic violence, supporting family protection, and consolidating community stability.
