The Islamic World Relief Organization (IWRO) participated in the steering committee meeting of the “Solidarity 2.0” program, held via video conference with the participation of the Islamic Development Bank and several partner development and humanitarian institutions to follow up on the program’s implementation and discuss its priorities and work pathways in the coming phase.
In a statement to KUNA, IWRO Director General Engineer Badr Al-Samit said the program focuses on empowering local civil society organizations and building their institutional and technical capacities, thereby enhancing their ability to serve their communities more effectively and sustainably. He added that the program aims to shift from direct response to needs toward addressing their root causes by investing in the capacities of local institutions and enabling them to design and implement sustainable development solutions that respond to the needs of their communities.
He noted that the Islamic Development Bank’s selection of IWRO as a key partner in the program reflects its expertise in charitable and development work, as well as in building the capacities of non-profit organizations and improving their institutional performance.
Al-Samit clarified that IWRO’s role rests on three main pathways: developing methodologies for building the capacities of civil society organizations; supporting projects related to community resilience, financial inclusion, and institutional building; and leveraging technical expertise in designing development and humanitarian interventions.
He emphasized that IWRO’s participation in the program contributes to strengthening Kuwait’s presence within the international humanitarian and development work framework. He pointed out that the coming phase will focus on transitioning from partnership building to implementation, achieving tangible and sustainable results in targeted communities.
