A delegation from the Ministry of Oil visited the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) headquarters, where it reviewed the operational mechanisms across the various departments of the editorial sector and their news services, particularly the Information and Research Center and KUNA’s Smart Oasis, as well as other editorial departments. During the visit, the delegation received a detailed briefing from Acting Editor-in-Chief Badr Al-Sharhan and managers of the editorial departments on daily workflows, the stages of writing, editing, and broadcasting news content in Arabic, English, and French through KUNA’s general news bulletin and its social media platforms, including image integration, post drafting, and headline selection. The delegation also closely examined KUNA’s Information and Research Center, learning about its role, scientific methodology, and professional approach to handling news and information. Center staff provided a comprehensive overview of archiving processes, the aggregation and classification of news materials and various media formats broadcast by the agency, as well as the preparation of reports, studies, periodicals, and research publications issued by the center. Additionally, the delegation was introduced to KUNA’s Smart Oasis, its operational nature, and its significance in aligning with modern media concepts, particularly through the use of artificial intelligence technologies in media content production and delivery.
In this context, Sheikh Tamadur Al-Sabah, Director of the Public Relations and Petroleum Media Department at the Ministry of Oil, stated that the visit to KUNA represented an important opportunity to closely observe the agency’s experience and professional expertise in editorial, digital, and media operations, and to learn about the modern mechanisms and technologies it employs in content production and management, reflecting KUNA’s advanced national expertise and its firmly established position in the local media landscape. She noted that the visit facilitated the exchange of experiences and practical insights in several areas prioritized for media development, notably digital media, the application of artificial intelligence in content creation, and mechanisms for news verification and professional handling of misinformation and rumors.
She emphasized that leveraging successful national experiences constitutes an important pathway for developing petroleum media tools and enhancing their capabilities to keep pace with the rapid transformations in the media industry. She clarified that the Ministry places utmost importance on strengthening cooperation and knowledge exchange with national media institutions, noting that the visit marks a significant step toward expanding collaborative efforts between the Ministry and KUNA, enabling mutual benefit from the expertise and resources available to both parties. This, she added, will support the development of media performance, enhance the efficiency of specialized content production in the oil and gas sector, and strengthen the ability to reach audiences in a professional and reliable manner.
