Iran's Revolutionary Guard deploys and fortifies in the Mukha and Bab al-Mandeb mountains

Marib (Yemen) – Agencies: The Houthi group has begun fortifying military positions on the hills overlooking Bab al-Mandab and Al-Mukha, amid reports that experts from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) participated in the offensive and operated missiles and drones.

Yemeni sources told Sky News that the Houthis started establishing military positions on the hilltops overlooking the Bab al-Mandab Strait and the city of Al-Mukha after taking control of the area.

Yemeni intelligence sources reported that experts from Iran’s IRGC and members of Hezbollah actively participated in the recent Houthi offensive, which ended with the group seizing control of Yemen’s western coast and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

For its part, the government-aligned National Resistance Forces accused Iran, through the IRGC and its regional allies, of providing direct support and directing the offensive that resulted in the Houthis taking control of extensive positions and areas along the coast.

The National Resistance Forces stated that the attack was premeditated to exploit the terrain and gain fire control over several commanding high ground positions, with the aim of encircling the forces and destroying their combat capability.

It assessed that the course of the battles revealed the nature of Iran’s role in supporting the Houthis, accusing the group of executing a project aimed at undermining Arab national security and international waterways.
