Qatar's victory and Jordan's defeat in the "Basket"
Competitions at the Asian Games in Japan began yesterday with Qatar’s 59-53 victory over Iran in the opening group-stage match of the men’s basketball tournament, marking the first contest of the multi-sport continental event. Several competitions will commence before the opening ceremony scheduled for the 19th of this month, including basketball, football, cricket, hockey, and modern pentathlon. The Qatari national team withstood an Iranian comeback to secure the Group B matchup at the Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium in Nagoya. This was the first men’s basketball game, with the final set for September 20, one day after the opening ceremony. In Group B, Taiwan also defeated Jordan 83-80.
