Al-Azraq Basketball Club seeks a coach
The Training and National Teams Committee at the Kuwait Basketball Federation is reviewing several coaching resumes in order to hire one to lead the national team, should an agreement not be reached to extend the tenure of Greek coach Vasilis Pratsiakos. Pratsiakos led the team during the first window of the Asian qualifiers before returning to coach his club, Al-Najma in Bahrain. The federation had initially agreed with the Greek coach to lead the national team for only one month during his participation in the first window, but he observed significant satisfaction among the players and their acceptance of his team management style. This prompted officials to explore the possibility of hiring him on a permanent basis, in coordination with the coach and Al-Najma club officials. With less than two months remaining before the second window of the Asian qualifiers, which the national team will compete in next November as part of Group 5 alongside Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Palestine, Kazakhstan, and Sri Lanka, the team remains without a permanent coach, a situation that could hinder the preparation phase for the qualifiers. The national team is aiming to reach the continental championship and needs only two victories in its group to secure qualification, given that four teams from the group will advance.
