Kuwait Olympic Committee begins training today

The national team continues its training in two sessions, morning and evening, at the Aspire Academy pitches in the Qatari capital, Doha, as part of its training camp running until September 16, in preparation for the “Gulf Cup 27” tournament in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The squad began its first training session the day before yesterday after arriving in Doha, with the technical staff, led by Portuguese coach Helio Sousa, focusing on enhancing physical and technical readiness and preparing the players for the Gulf competition.
The team will play a friendly match against Qatari club Al-Lusail next Monday, offering the technical staff an opportunity to test various tactical options and assess player readiness before departing Doha for Jeddah on September 16.
Eight players from Al-Kuwait Club are absent from the training camp due to their involvement with their club’s match against UAE side Al-Ittihad Kalba in the opening fixture of Al-Ahly’s AFC Champions League Two campaign on September 16. They will join the national team after their club match concludes.
The national team will play its final friendly against Yemen in Jeddah on September 18, before opening its Gulf Cup 27 campaign against Saudi Arabia on September 23. It will then face Iraq on September 26, and conclude its group stage matches against Oman on September 29.
Meanwhile, the Olympic team begins its training today in the Japanese capital, Tokyo, following the arrival of the squad in preparation for the 20th Asian Games (Aichi-Nagoya 2026). The technical staff, led by Spanish coach David Doniga, granted the players a short rest upon arrival to avoid fatigue from travel, before commencing official training sessions to boost technical and physical readiness.
The departing Olympic squad comprises 23 players, including three overage players: Mishaal Al-Assem, Bandar Al-Salman, and Fawaz Al-Mubarak. The Olympic team is drawn in Group C alongside Uzbekistan, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
The Olympic team will begin its group stage campaign against Vietnam on September 18, face Uzbekistan on September 21, and conclude its matches against the Philippines on September 24, aiming to secure one of the two spots available to advance to the next round.
