Washington (Agencies): U.S. President Donald Trump pledged to pay $5,000 to every American adult if Republicans retain their majority in Congress following the November elections, urging his supporters to “imagine” his name on the ballot. Speaking at a party rally in Dallas, where Republicans face challenges in the midterm elections against Democrats according to polls, Trump said, “If Republicans win, you win with us, and you get $5,000. They’ll call it Trump dividends.” The Republican president did not clarify the source of these funds, which could total more than a trillion dollars, content only to say that “our country is making a lot of money.” Trump insisted that he could help Republicans defy poll predictions and retain their majority in both chambers of Congress after the November 3 elections, asking his supporters, “I ask you to imagine that my name is on the ballot.” He chanted to the crowd, “I’m on the ballot, I’m on the ballot, once after.” Polls show a significant decline in Trump’s popularity, amid growing anger over rising prices and the war he launched against Iran.
