Iraq plans to increase oil exports via Syria and Turkey

Iraqi Oil Minister Basim Muhammad Khudhair confirmed that daily export rates in September reached 3 million barrels, while revealing a future plan to increase exports via Syria and the Turkish port of Ceyhan by an additional 1 million barrels. Khudhair stated that “Iraq exports approximately 3 million barrels per day in September,” noting that “Iraq is committed to OPEC’s production capacity ceiling, currently not exceeding 4.2 million barrels per day.” He added that “there is a future plan to increase pipeline export capacity through Syria and the Turkish port of Ceyhan to exceed 1 million barrels,” according to the Iraqi News Agency (INA). Earlier, Khudhair said Iraq plans to implement projects to develop and build oil refineries, calling on investors to participate in these projects. He affirmed that the ministry is working to implement an integrated strategy to develop the oil and gas sector, which includes increasing production and exports, diversifying export routes, upgrading refineries, utilizing and reducing gas flaring, as well as enhancing the participation of Iraqi companies and building national capacity.
