University: Renewal of ABET accreditation for «Engineering and Petroleum» programs
Kuwait University announced the renewal of accreditation for its College of Engineering and Petroleum programs by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) in the United States, an achievement that underscores the academic quality of the college’s programs and its commitment to global standards in engineering education, while enhancing international recognition of its outputs and graduates.
Dr. Adel Mallah, Acting Dean of the College of Engineering and Petroleum, affirmed that the renewal of accreditation confirms the high academic level of the engineering programs and the quality of their outputs. He explained that the evaluation process covered program objectives, curricula, faculty members, students, administration, and facilities, alongside the level of institutional support provided to the college.
He added that the final report included a comprehensive evaluation of the college, as well as an independent assessment of each scientific program, emphasizing that the renewal of accreditation strengthens international recognition of the quality of the engineering programs and their outputs, granting graduates an advantage through the international recognition of their qualifications.
He noted that this achievement is a continuation of Kuwait University’s efforts to enhance the quality of education and elevate its academic outputs in accordance with international standards, aligning with its strategic direction toward quality and excellence, and strengthening its graduates’ ability to compete academically and professionally.
Mallah dedicated this achievement to all members of the college and university administration, thanking them for the support and efforts that contributed to meeting accreditation requirements and maintaining the quality of engineering programs.
For his part, Dr. Abdullah Al-Ajmi, Acting Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, Research, and Graduate Studies, stated that the Academic Evaluation Office, in collaboration with the scientific departments, played an active role in maintaining the quality of the educational process and preparing for the evaluation, which culminated in the renewal of academic accreditation for all programs by ABET without any recorded deficiencies or weaknesses.
Al-Ajmi expressed his gratitude to the academic faculty, students, administrative staff, and all those who contributed to achieving this milestone, emphasizing that these efforts contribute to developing the educational process and serving Kuwait University and the State of Kuwait, while appreciating the continuous support provided by the university administration to the college.
