Minister of Defense: Our Armed Forces are fully ready
Minister of Defense Sheikh Abdullah Al-Ali briefed the Council of Ministers on the latest developments in the regional situation and current military developments, in light of the reprehensible Iranian attacks that Kuwait suffered last week. He affirmed the readiness of the Armed Forces and their continued performance of their duties and responsibilities with efficiency and competence, and their adoption of all necessary measures and precautions to safeguard Kuwait’s sovereignty and territory, preserve its security and stability, and protect its citizens and residents.
On another note, the Council of Ministers heard a briefing from Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Jara Al-Jaber on the political and diplomatic efforts undertaken by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its diplomatic missions abroad to keep pace with the latest developments on both the regional and international stages.
The Council of Ministers expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the repeated reprehensible Iranian attacks using hostile missiles and drones, which targeted several sites in the country, including a residential complex last week. It affirmed that these attacks constitute a blatant violation of Kuwait’s sovereignty and a direct threat to its security, stability, and the safety of its citizens and residents, as well as a serious breach of international law provisions, the UN Charter, and a clear violation of Security Council Resolution 2817. The Council described these actions as a serious escalation that threatens the security and stability of the region, undermines diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation and reducing tensions.
The Council of Ministers reiterated Kuwait’s full right to take all necessary measures to safeguard its sovereignty, protect its security and interests, and defend its territory and vital facilities against any aggression or threat, based on its inherent right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter and the rules of international law.
