Al-Hawila: Strengthening Governance of Charitable Work

Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood Dr. Amtal Al-Huwaila confirmed that the draft law regulating charitable and humanitarian work serves as a continuation of the ministry’s efforts to develop the charitable sector, enhance governance, and strengthen institutional practices. She emphasized that regulation and oversight contribute to protecting charitable activities, bolstering public trust in them, and ensuring that aid reaches its rightful beneficiaries.
Speaking to the media on the occasion of International Charitable Day, observed annually on September 5, Al-Huwaila stated that the ministry has worked to update regulatory frameworks and develop electronic systems, thereby enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of charitable work. She noted that charitable work in the State of Kuwait represents a firmly rooted national heritage and an authentic tradition passed down through generations. She affirmed that the strong interest and support shown by the political leadership for charitable and humanitarian efforts reflect its entrenched position in Kuwait’s policies and reinforce the continuity of its humanitarian mission both domestically and internationally.
Al-Huwaila added that Kuwaiti charitable work has evolved from deeply rooted community initiatives into an institutionalized system carrying a humanitarian mission focused on supporting those in need and preserving human dignity wherever it is found. She confirmed the ministry’s ongoing commitment to developing cooperation with charitable associations and foundations, and leveraging modern technologies to enhance the efficiency of charitable work, strengthen its sustainability, and achieve its humanitarian objectives.
She expressed her appreciation to all workers and volunteers who have contributed to the continuity of charitable and humanitarian efforts, emphasizing that preserving this approach is a shared responsibility and represents an extension of Kuwait’s humanitarian message, underpinned by the support of the political leadership.
