12,000 School Bags for Children of Needy Families
The Al Salam Association for Humanitarian and Charitable Work launched its annual school bag and clothing exhibition, dedicated to students from low-income families within Kuwait, aiming to provide 12,000 school bags alongside school uniforms as part of the “Back to School” project.
Hamad Al-Awn, the General Manager of Al Salam Association for Humanitarian and Charitable Work, confirmed that the association has been organizing the school bag and clothing exhibition for approximately 10 years, with the current edition marking its fifth iteration. The initiative aims to support students, assist low-income families, and alleviate their burdens as the new academic year approaches.
Al-Awn stated that the association aims to distribute 12,000 school bags and uniforms this year, supported by donors and sponsors. He emphasized that the project stems from the association’s charitable, humanitarian, and developmental role toward beneficiary families within Kuwait.
He clarified that the distribution process was pre-organized through registration via a dedicated online link for families registered with the association. Each family is assigned a specific appointment time and receives a barcode to present upon arrival with their children. This system allows families to select appropriate bags based on gender, age, and educational stage, while helping to organize the distribution process and avoid congestion.
Al-Awn noted that the school bag and clothing project holds the necessary licenses from relevant authorities, including the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Ministry of Interior. It is implemented in collaboration with the Islamic World Charity Organization (IWCO), and he highlighted the significant engagement and participation from merchants, donors, and beneficiary families.
Al-Awn thanked donors and all those who contributed to the project’s success, expressing his appreciation for the efforts of the Ministry of Social Affairs, the Ministry of Interior, and the Al Jahra Governorate in supporting and facilitating the work of charitable institutions and the implementation of their humanitarian and developmental projects.
For his part, Lieutenant Waleed Al-Saeed, representative of the Al Jahra Governorate and head of the Public Relations and Media Department, expressed his pleasure in participating in the exhibition’s opening. He affirmed the governorate’s support for humanitarian initiatives aimed at assisting students, which reflect the values of giving and solidarity characteristic of Kuwaiti society. Al-Saeed praised Al Salam Charitable Association’s initiative and wished all students success in the new academic year.
Meanwhile, Othman Al-Sharida, representative of the Institutional Communications Sector at Kuwait Finance House, emphasized the bank’s commitment to collaborating with Al Salam Association for Humanitarian and Charitable Work to support educational and community initiatives. He noted that corporate social responsibility constitutes a fundamental aspect of the bank’s role toward society. Al-Sharida added that the bank’s participation in the exhibition aims to bring joy to students, wishing them a year filled with success and achievement.
The exhibition is being held at the venue of the Islamic World Charity Organization in the Al Jahra area until tomorrow, Saturday, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The event is attended by Lieutenant Waleed Al-Saeed, representative of the Al Jahra Governorate and head of the Public Relations and Media Department, along with several social media influencers, donors, and volunteers.
