Today, "Hormuz," and tomorrow, "Trump Strait"!
Washington, AFP: U.S. President Donald Trump proposed changing the name of the Strait of Hormuz to the Trump Strait, after announcing that the strategic waterway was under U.S. control. Trump wrote in a post: “Now that it is under U.S. control, should we change the name of the Strait of Hormuz to the Trump Strait?” He added that the strait, if it bore his name, would be hotter than ever, concluding his post with: “Thank you for your interest in this matter.” Later, the White House posted a map of the Gulf on social media, referring to the waterway as the Trump Strait, with the comment: “The name looks nice.” In recent weeks, Trump has repeatedly threatened to assert U.S. sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz, even posting a map depicting the waterway as new U.S. territory.
