Kuwait Finance House and Commercial Bank Sign Electronic Linkage Protocol

In the context of partnership and enhancing cooperation between the public and private sectors, Kuwait Credit Bank announced the signing of a cooperation protocol for electronic integration with Commercial Bank, facilitating direct transfers between the two banks for loans granted by Kuwait Credit Bank. Al-Dabous stated that the agreement complements the protocol signed on March 3, 2016, continuing the efforts undertaken by Kuwait Credit Bank to expand its electronic integration network. He noted that direct payment transfers are the primary tool relied upon by banks and regulatory authorities in the Gulf to achieve digital transformation goals, replacing the check issuance mechanism or branch visits. Al-Dabous further clarified that the agreement includes linking the technical systems of both banks to ensure real-time data synchronization and automatic notifications to customers at maturity, thereby supporting financial inclusion and the integration of digital systems. He emphasized the importance of this step, which aligns with the broader trend of enhancing digital transformation in the government sector and reducing procedural burdens, in line with the directives of the Central Bank of Kuwait and other Gulf central banks to reduce reliance on paper checks and expand the use of electronic payment methods. Al-Dabous mentioned that the agreement was signed at the bank’s headquarters in the South Al-Sarra building, in the presence of Commercial Bank’s CEO Ilham Mahfouz, Abdulaziz Saleh Al-Zayani, General Manager of the Retail Banking Sector, and several senior executives from both Commercial Bank and Kuwait Credit Bank. He pointed out that the bank has previously signed similar protocols with commercial banks, reflecting the acceleration of digital transformation in the banking and service sectors and the harmonization of standards among entities, which drives improvements in the quality of services provided to citizens.
