Everton want Balogun

English club Everton has reached an agreement to sign American striker Folarin Balogun from French side Monaco in a deal worth £40 million ($54 million), according to media reports published yesterday. If the transfer is completed before the close of the transfer window today, the 25-year-old will return to the English Premier League three years after leaving Arsenal for Monaco in a deal valued at £35 million. Everton is now seeking to agree personal terms with the player and complete a medical examination before officially announcing the transfer. Balogun drew attention with his performances for the US national team at the recent World Cup, where he was also at the center of widespread controversy. He had been suspended ahead of the match against Belgium due to a red card received during the group stage game against Bosnia and Herzegovina, but the sanction was later overturned following intervention by US President Donald Trump. Born in New York, Balogun progressed through Arsenal’s academy after moving to London as a child. He scored 31 goals in 91 appearances for Monaco and also featured for the club in the UEFA Champions League.
