City reaches agreement to sign Ndiaye

Manchester City have reached an agreement to sign Senegalese winger Iliman Ndiaye from Everton in a deal worth £65 million ($88 million), according to media reports published yesterday. City will pay an initial fee of £60 million, with a further £5 million potentially added as performance-related incentives and bonuses. Tottenham had also expressed interest in signing Ndiaye, but it appears City have won the race for the services of the 26-year-old.

Manchester City’s interest in Liverpool’s Dutch striker Cody Gakpo had stalled after the Reds refused to agree to his sale in the final days of the transfer window without first securing a replacement. This prompted City to turn their attention to Ndiaye, who is expected to undergo a medical ahead of completing his move before the transfer window closes today.

Ndiaye joined Everton from French club Marseille for £15 million two years ago and scored six goals last season. His impending move to City comes after the club completed the signing of Brazilian winger Alan from Palmeiras for £34.2 million. Ndiaye will become City’s fourth high-profile signing since the end of last season, following the acquisitions of Elliot Anderson, Moroccan winger Ayoub El Kaabi, and Alan.
