Putin: Russia moving toward ending the Ukrainian conflict

Bishkek – Agencies: Russian President Vladimir Putin affirmed on Monday that Moscow is moving toward ending the Ukrainian conflict, during his meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit. For his part, the Kremlin stated that Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping discussed the Ukrainian conflict during their meeting in Kyrgyzstan, but it was not the main topic of their talks. In this context, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi informed President Putin that the war in Ukraine must end for the sake of humanity, and that New Delhi will support all peace efforts aimed at halting the fighting. Modi made these remarks at the outset of his talks with Putin in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, referring to Putin as “my friend” and praising the growing economic ties between the two countries, which he said are guided by the need to prioritize the interests of both nations above all else. Speaking to Putin on the sidelines of the SCO summit, according to a transcript of their conversation released by the Kremlin, Modi said: “India supports all peace efforts in this regard, and we will continue to do so in the future.”
