Al-Yousef: No favoritism, no covering up for anyone

The First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, yesterday Monday commended personnel of the General Administration for Combating Narcotics who were instrumental in thwarting the largest operation of its kind in Kuwait’s history involving the manufacture and trafficking of Lariqa, a psychoactive substance.
The Ministry of Interior stated in a press release that Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef Al-Sabah awarded the honorees a bonus in appreciation of their sincere security efforts and the competence and vigilance they demonstrated in uncovering the case and arresting those involved.
According to the statement, Al-Yousef affirmed that all of Kuwait takes pride in the honorees and their work, led by His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, His Highness the Crown Prince, and His Highness the Prime Minister. He noted that their achievements are a source of pride and honor for Kuwaiti families, given their contribution to protecting citizens from the dangers of these toxins.
He stressed that this seizure should not be the end of the matter, urging investigators to continue pursuing all leads in the case and to identify anyone proven to be involved in importing or distributing the substances. He emphasized that there is no favoritism or cover-up for anyone, and that nothing is greater than Kuwait.
Al-Yousef said the main suspect admitted that he refrained from distributing the seized quantity out of fear of the new Anti-Narcotics Law and the vigilance of security forces. He added that the absolute support from His Highness the Amir serves as a backbone for all Ministry of Interior personnel across all ranks, motivating them to continue their work without complacency in confronting criminals and smugglers.
He stated that Kuwait deserves much from its sons, and what the country has provided them exceeds what they can give it, no matter their efforts. He thanked the honorees for their tireless efforts, urging them to continue their contributions and achieve further accomplishments in protecting the nation and safeguarding its security and stability.
The statement noted that this commendation aligns with the Ministry of Interior’s approach to recognizing outstanding individuals and motivating security talents, thereby enhancing readiness and reinforcing a spirit of dedication and loyalty in the performance of duties.
