Mbappe's hat-trick leads Real Madrid to victory
French international striker Kylian Mbappé led his team, Real Madrid, to a convincing 4-1 victory over visitors Real Sociedad in the match postponed from the opening round of La Liga. Mbappé established himself as the star of the match by scoring a hat-trick in the 40th, 60th, and 80th minutes. Brazilian star Vinicius Junior scored in the 68th minute and provided an assist, while Englishman Jude Bellingham delivered two assists. Real Sociedad’s sole goal was scored by Croatian player Luka Sučić in the 44th minute.
The 15-time European champions extended their points tally to six with their second consecutive win, while Real Sociedad suffered their second straight defeat, following an earlier loss to Real Betis 0-1. Under Portuguese manager José Mourinho, Real Madrid cemented their dominance over Real Sociedad, securing their eighth consecutive victory against the Basque side in their last eight La Liga encounters. The Madrid-based team also recorded their fifth consecutive La Liga win (three at the end of last season and two at the start of this season), reaching seven consecutive home league matches without defeat (six wins and one draw).
Conversely, Real Sociedad’s crisis deepened, as they have failed to win in any competition since winning the Copa del Rey last April. Their winless streak extended to eight matches, comprising five losses and three draws.
Real Sociedad stood firm in the first half against Real Madrid. Their star player, Mikel Oyarzabal, fired a left-footed shot from close range, but Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois saved it with his foot, sending the ball to a corner (11th minute). In a similar manner, Basque goalkeeper Alex Remiro saved a close-range left-footed curling shot from Vinicius Junior on the left side (21st minute).
Mbappé opened the scoring after receiving a pass from Uruguayan Federico Valverde, who curled the ball beautifully with his left foot into the top left corner from close range (40th minute). Sučić quickly equalized after a rebound from Real Madrid defender Ibrahima Konaté fell to him, and he slotted it with his left foot into the right side of Courtois’s goal from inside the box (44th minute).
In the second half, Real Madrid unleashed their attacking prowess, with Real Sociedad completely outplayed. The display began with a shot from Mbappé saved by Remiro (46th minute). The momentum continued with a series of passes involving substitute Marc Cucurella, Valverde, and Bellingham. Bellingham then exchanged passes with Mbappé, allowing the French striker to break free on the left side and finish with a low right-footed shot into the bottom right corner (60th minute).
Bellingham continued his creative influence by delivering a cross from the left to Vinicius, who tapped it into the open net from inside the six-yard box (68th minute). Vinicius then provided a precise through ball to Mbappé, who broke free on the left and chipped the ball over Remiro from the edge of the six-yard box with his left foot (80th minute).
