Trump signs off on increased meat imports

The White House announced that U.S. President Donald Trump signed an order to temporarily increase the volume of imported beef. The order, published by the White House, stated that the move aims to address the problem of beef prices that have “risen unreasonably” for American consumers. The American Farm Bureau Federation, the country’s largest agricultural lobbying group, sent a letter to Trump warning that easing tariffs would place pressure on U.S. cattle ranchers. The order specified that the amount of meat allowed to be imported without additional tariffs would increase by 300,000 tons.
