Kuwait and Beijing: Enhancing Regional Stability

Foreign Minister Sheikh Jara Al-Jaber conveyed the greetings of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Sabah, and His Highness the Prime Minister, Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, to Chinese President Xi Jinping, Chinese Premier Li Qiang, and Chinese Vice President Han Zheng, along with their best wishes for the continued progress and prosperity of the Chinese government and people. This took place during a meeting in Beijing yesterday between Al-Jaber and Chinese Vice President Han Zheng, at which they discussed ways to develop and strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries across various fields. They also reviewed the latest regional and international developments and exchanged views on issues of mutual interest.

The Foreign Minister also met with Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and China’s Foreign Minister. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release that the meeting reviewed the close historical ties between the two countries and ways to develop and enhance their strategic partnership. It was reaffirmed that the current year marks a prominent milestone in Kuwait-China relations, coinciding with the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

The release added that both sides emphasized their commitment to strengthening Kuwait-China cooperation across all fields and intensifying coordination and consultation at various levels, contributing to elevating bilateral relations to more advanced levels and realizing the common interests of both countries. It noted that the meeting also discussed recent regional and international developments and exchanged views on issues of mutual interest, foremost among them developments in the region and diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation and enhancing security and stability.
