The cashier and his deputy did not speak!
After a silence from him that was akin to the Sphinx’s own silence since the Iranian aggression against Kuwait, our Gulf states, Jordan, and Erbil, the writer Ahmed Al-Sarraf was accused of believing in neutrality between Kuwait and Iran—a stance that is proven or disproven by actions, not words. We have not read any articles by him, nor seen any interviews, in which he defends Kuwait’s grievance. Rather, when the journalist Abdullah Al-Sawla requested an interview with him regarding the aggression facing Kuwait, Al-Sarraf provided two phone numbers and asked Al-Sawla to contact him to conduct the interview in defense of Kuwait. I still do not know what prevented him from conducting that interview, or other similar interviews, or writing articles defending his country, instead of publishing pieces on trivial topics that can easily be obtained from search engines and artificial intelligence websites, or by adopting the causes of others, such as the stance on Hamas adopted by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which he had previously betrayed in his article “Gaza, But,” accusing it of being the cause of Gaza’s destruction. What compelled him to appear now, and why does his position align this time with those of the IRGC’s mouthpieces and hired writers, such as Abdul Bari Atwan, Mustafa Bakri, Waam Wahab, Ali Al-Maishani, and those like them, contrary to the viewpoint of those who seek our destruction and impoverishment by cutting off our livelihoods?

Following that unjustified silence, Ahmed Al-Sarraf wrote an article yesterday titled “Caution, for Iranian Aggression is Coming.” Personally, I believe he has harmed Kuwait more than all the politicians, academics, and media figures I have heard from over the past months—those who are mouthpieces for the IRGC. I have countered their lies and fabrications, as their arguments are flimsy and their damage to the domestic Kuwaiti and Gulf public is limited. Thus, Gulf satellite channels allowed their views to be broadcast and gave Gulf audiences the opportunity to debunk them. In the beginning, I do not understand why Al-Sarraf decided to defend Kuwait “now” only? The situation was calm, and he did not wake up during the many months when missiles and drones were raining down on us, and the sounds of air raid sirens filled the land and sky. Kuwait, with its people and government, its young and old, citizens and residents, had nothing to talk about but that aggression. He was either asleep or “acting as if he were dead,” writing about everything except the issue of Kuwait. In my astonishment and disbelief at this change, I returned to our newspapers issued in recent days, hoping to find something that might justify this sudden awakening regarding the Iranian aggression against us. However, I found nothing in our newspapers’ headlines except good news: the government’s serious fight against money laundering operations, which are akin to selling Iraqi oil barrels that Saddam previously used to buy the loyalty of politicians and media figures, with which the IRGC now buys loyalty, media, and pens. Newspapers also published that the government, thankfully, has opened all previous corruption files, such as the deposits and Eurofighter cases, and certainly what happened during the Corona pandemic, when Kuwait was robbed while on its sickbed and deathbed. In general, all those files are internal matters unrelated to the aggression against Kuwait and the Gulf states. Thus, my bewilderment remains regarding what changed Al-Sarraf’s direction from writing about others’ issues to writing about what is happening to Kuwait.

The final stop: I found in Al-Sarraf’s article, written by the great silencer, matters of extreme danger and harm to the country’s security and economy, amidst difficult wartime conditions imposed on us and our brothers in the Gulf states. Such things are not permitted outside these conditions, as they incite panic among the masses and destroy the economy, which is the pillar of life and survival. These are actions typically carried out by enemies during wars through fifth columns that feign loyalty to their homelands while harboring treason, and claim to care for regimes and peoples while striving to abandon them secretly and incite confusion and fear among their ranks... The silencer has recently spoken. I wish, by God, that he had not spoken. And we hope that the saying... “Whoever is with him does not need enemies at all”... will not be believed alongside us. And to tomorrow’s article about the deadly poison mixed with fat in the article of one who remained silent for a long time and then spoke in disbelief!
